From @raqueltwg on today's scripture:
"Don’t suppose for a minute that I have come to demolish the Scriptures—either God’s Law or the Prophets. I’m not here to demolish but to complete. I am going to put it all together, pull it all together in a vast panorama. God’s Law is more real and lasting than the stars in the sky and the ground at your feet. Long after stars burn out and earth wears out, God’s Law will be alive and working." I was asked to create an art piece for this week's service at the @509community, and tbh when I read the passage I wasn't moved immediately. Then I read the Message version and it spoke a whole new truth to me, a truth that has actually been foundational to my theology for the last couple years. God's Truth and God's work did not get stuck in the Old Testament. In the same way, God's truth and work are not limited by the Scriptures we received 2000 years ago. We use what we have been graciously given as a foundation, as a Divine Word that points forward, knowing that God is continuing to reveal Himself and heal the world in new ways. God is actively creating a panorama that we only see a small part of, a beautiful picture that is always being added to, that is always alive, one that gives freedom.
